Energy efficiency is a key issue for CEEETA-Eco. In fact, energy efficiency is of paramount importance in any strategy aiming at energy de-carbonization. For energy consumers, besides carbon footprint reduction, energy costs shall be kept as low as possible, in order to be competitive in the market.

CEEETA-Eco develops the following activities:

The use of Renewable Energy source is not anymore an option of energy policy: it’s a must go if one is aiming at economy de-carbonization.

CEEETA-Eco develops the following activities:

• Evaluation of Renewable Energy Sources potential
• Simulation of Energy Production by Renewable Energy Sources
• Technical Feasibility Studies
• Cost Benefit Analysis for Renewable Energy investments
• Support to applications for incentives in Renewable Energy projects
• Support to the development of Renewable Energy projects (including greenfield, resource evaluation, energy production simulation, design, procurement, due-diligence, audits, etc.)
• Sectorial studies for Renewable Energy projects and instruments

Sustainable energy planning usually leads to Action Plans. In Europe, following the Paris Agreement (2015), the European Union adopted the European Green Deal, which is a plan to make the EU's economy sustainable by boosting the efficient use of resources by moving to a clean, circular economy and by restoring biodiversity and cutting pollution.

The Covenant of Mayors is a voluntary initiative aiming at the acceleration of the decarbonisation of the territories, strengthening the capacity to adapt to unavoidable climate change impacts, and allowing the citizens to access secure, sustainable and affordable energy. In this context, the signatory cities shall adopt a Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan (SECAP) to support the implementation of the EU 40% greenhouse gas-reduction target by 2030.

CEEETA-Eco can support stakeholders by the:

• Elaboration of Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans (SECAP)
• Monitoring or Evaluation of SECAP or some of its measures
• Elaboration of sectorial or specific targeted measures Action Plans
• Design of measures aiming at the reduction of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions or adaptation to climate change
• Evaluation of the impact of specific measures
• Developing the implementation of specific measures including public campaigns

CEEETA-Eco carries out specific studies targeted at specific client needs. Also, CEEETA-Eco develops projects of its specific fields of competence.

The transport sector is crucial in order to attain the de-carbonization goals, taking into account the amount of greenhouse gas emissions which it is responsible for. Moreover, local air pollutants are associated with the circulation of conventional vehicles that damages public health.

The greening of the city, a new paradigm, which is already ongoing in some places, redefines the priority use of urban space for citizens and not for urban traffic purposes.

In this field, CEEETA-Eco performs the following activities:

• Support to the elaboration of SUMP (Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan)
• Elaboration of Electric Mobility Plans
• Design and Evaluation of Sustainable Mobility measures
• Developing the implementation of specific measures including public campaigns
• Energy Audits for fleets of vehicles

'Achieving carbon neutrality in 2050 means the progressive abandonment of a linear economic model, based on fossil fuels, supporting on an economy that is based on renewable resources and that uses resources efficiently and with models of circular economy, which values the territory and promotes territorial cohesion.' In Portuguese Climate and Energy Action Plan 2030, December 2019.

Circular Economy promotes a reorganization of the economic model and goes beyond the strict focus of waste management actions, such as recycling, aiming at a broader action, from the redesign of processes, products (through industrial symbiosis) and new business models to optimization of the use of resources, achieving greater reuse with less waste.

Bearing in mind the great challenge caused by this paradigm shift, CEEETA-Eco supports the most diverse entities in the following activities:

• Support in the elaboration of Decarbonization and Circular Economy Action Plans
• Diverse support for the implementation of measures, including awareness and dissemination measures

Para o Município de Chaves (2018-2020)

O CEEETA-Eco prestou apoio ao Município de Chaves, quer na obtenção de co-financiamento através da submissão de uma candidatura, que viria a ser aprovada, ao Aviso 5 do Fundo de Apoio à Inovação (FAI), quer na elaboração do “projeto de execução Ampliação da Rede Urbana de Calor da Cidade de Chaves”. Previamente, para apoiar o Município de Chaves na tomada de decisão, foi realizado um “estudo de viabilidade técnico económica de implementação de uma rede de geotermia em Chaves”.

Para o Instituto Nacional de Saúde Doutor Ricardo Jorge (INSA) (2019-2020)

O CEEETA-Eco realizou uma Avaliação Energética Intermédia para fundamentar uma proposta de Reprogramação Física e Financeira da Candidatura apresentada pelo Instituto Nacional de Saúde Doutor Ricardo Jorge (INSA) no âmbito do Plano Operacional Sustentabilidade e Eficiência no Uso de Recursos – POSEUR.

Este projeto surgiu na sequência da elaboração da candidatura e certificação energética do edifício do INSA em Lisboa, no qual o CEEETA-Eco participou ativamente.

O CEEETA-Eco realizou Auditorias Energéticas e elaborou Planos de Racionalização Energética (pren), no âmbito do SGCIE (Sistema de Gestão dos Consumos Intensivos de Energia, Decreto-Lei nº 71/2018) a diversas instalações industriais e de tratamento de águas residuais.
